Michelle’s Offerings

Acupuncture

This is the shallow insertion of very fine, sterile needles into specific points throughout the body, along channels (called meridians) related to organ systems. Like waterways, meridians run throughout our body to circulate vital energy (called qi). Acupuncture helps relieve the inevitable blockages that occur, which supports our overall health and wellbeing.

Cupping

Cupping therapy involves the placement of a specialized cup along specific points or channels on the body with the use of suction. It is not painful — but it can help relieve aches and pains, as well as support the body systems, from respiration to digestion. It can also be used at the onset of a cold or flu to reduce recovery time.

Cupping can be its own treatment, or be included with acupuncture.

Moxibustion

Often combined with acupuncture, this technique heats acupuncture points using the herb mugwort. This promotes circulation, and stimulates and nourishes the body systems.

Michelle often incorporates moxibustion into acupuncture treatments.

Tui Na

Tui na is a hands-on body treatment that works along the same meridians as acupuncture. It involves the application of pressure to acupuncture points, as well as other techniques, to promote qi and blood circulation. Pressure can be gentle or quite firm and deep. Not only can this relieve tension and pain, but it can also support wellbeing for a wide range of conditions.

Michelle often incorporates tui na into acupuncture treatments.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine uses natural substances to address underlying patterns of deficiency, stagnation, or other disharmonies and promote wellbeing. Herbal formulas come in the form of raw herbs or granules — which are taken like a tea — or patent formulas, which come in tablet or capsule form.

Herbal medicine can work in conjunction with acupuncture, or be used separately.

Qigong

Qigong is an ancient movement practice, similar to tai chi — only instead of being developed as a martial art, it was developed for healing. Most of the movements are done slowly while standing. This gentle yet powerful practice puts us in touch with our own vital energy (qi). Whether to naturally relieve pain, maintain wellbeing, or find deeper spiritual connection, qigong practice is beneficial.

Michelle teaches qigong classes in RI and online.

“I was new to acupuncture, and on my first visit I was struck by the warm and comforting space Michelle immediately created during the intake interview. I had been struggling emotionally, and I felt comfortable opening up to her in an authentic way. At that time and every subsequent visit, she met me with warmth, compassion, empathy, and hope... Her diagnosis was spot-on for me, as I started experiencing profound improvement in my symptoms after several treatments. She is an excellent acupuncturist with a warm soul, and I highly recommend her to anyone new or experienced to receiving treatments.”
